This spot will be a meetingpoint, on the one hand it refers to the meeting of the sun and the work and also to the people here meeting the work and any other visitors.

SLIDEHENGE

Under a polarizing microscope, rock samples called \'thin sections\' look like paintings or jewels. My proposal will enlarge these slides to the size of the monoliths at Stonehenge. They will capture daylight as it is cast through the translucent \'rock samples\' which will appear to hang in mid-air, suspended between the acrylic \'slides\'. The site will provide a space for contemplation as well as concerts (slides will be lit at night). Science and spirituality come together with art as the bridge

The buoys at our coast mark out a place for the surfers or sailing boats.

The clearness of the glass makes the real object disappear completely while the shadows win the game.

It is a kinetic installation of 250 glass crystals.
By the slightest breeze they move , catch the light , hold it for a few moments and let it go.So they create a constantly changing spectacle.
All the crystals together make a cloud.
That stands for the untouchable , thin , variable traveller by wind.
Sometimes the cloud is dark , grey , purple , black , heavy ,destructive and threatening.

Imaginons que le méridien soit une corde. Que les pays qu’il traverse forment une caisse de résonance. En faisant vibrer cette corde on pourrait définir — comme le fit Pythagore — les intervalles correspondant aux harmoniques émis par la vibration du méridien, établissant ainsi des rapports résonnants entre les lieux.

World Wide WEB along the Meridian

I intend to illustrate connection in the form of webs, the connection like the world wide web. I have made many of these, but my plan here is to produce them to be more then a one day installation. In the past helium balloons brought aloft the yarn webs. I will use technology, drones and micro computers to lift the web on schedules. The work of art \' between lines\' represents \' the light meridian\' from the entrance of the casino in Blankenberge to the upcoming tide line. The line consists out of hundreds upside down buckets of sand...

The work is temporary, it will be setup at the low tide and will be taken back by the sea at the high tide.

It can be realised together with people who are passing by, so that it\'s a work from the people for the people.

In Palomos the same project can also be realized.

A pruned branch is shortly lifted up from the ground to give prominence to the impossibility to reach water. The construction refers contradictory to garden stakes for young trees helping their roots growing. Irreversibly cut short from his sap flow, all his side branches seem seeking and supplicate for water. In a total absurd way, equipped with small tubes, funnels and traps they are trying to catch water. The assemblage stands to broach the subject of poignant water shortage in the world.

We are caught in a web, while hanging free, moving in a breeze and reflecting the rays of light. Threads of gleaming copper with glittering glass in the ever changing direction of he sun. The way the copper wraps around the glass is reminiscent of a gift. The structure itself can represent either the circulatory system, the neural network or waterways looking from high above, flows like a stream, is bendable, embraces glass like a river would a stone.

Three old bicycle lights are installed on a piece of root wood. That’s how the idea of light originates within this composition. Two sawn tree trunks form together a tension that sends energy to the root wood generate the suggestion of light.
This energy can rather be found in the weathering of the wood that stands in contact with a container of water in which the whole is placed. The piece of wood with the gap refers to the incidence of the light meridian line.

The light meridian connects places and people. The Leaves symbolize the countless lives (in constant change) that are touched by the light meridian. They are beautiful in all there diversity. This work is an art intervention: waiting, changing, creating, giving back. Pictures will be the only proof this work ever existed. The rectangular shape forms a sharp contradiction within the natural environment and demonstrates human artificial interference within the natural landscape.

A virtual mirror projects the light beam from Donzy, located on the “Light Meridian” to St.Didier s/ Arroux in Burgundy.
245 cups, made from wax. As uniform as their shape, color and the material, they are so different from each other, just like the 245 villagers.
The wax is very fragile. So the cups can warp and even melt. This symbolizes decay and death. The melted wax will leave also a trace likewise we will live after we die in our children or in the minds of our loved ones.

Flow2 (Mallorca)

Topic will be the story of each individual carrying a way of life, searching for the light,facing the path of life. Lookout Tower 2

Because the lightmeridian on beautiful and significant places is best seen from a height, we want to put towers on this line. These should channel the view along the line and the visitor can see the line at different heights. The high U-shape of the passages, both the horizontal and those with the stairs, give a good safety feel to the visitor. The sea has been the main inspiration in my paintings since 2012. It’s a rough research where I try to capture and model water in all its forms. ‘The Light Meridian as light line with its artistic beacons’ is always present in my research. The selected works should be exhibited in one room, as one story. One of the works is sawn in half – connected with hinges – and placed in the corner of the room. The corner of the room represents the virtual line, expanding its meaning: Light Meridian.

The light meridian intersects a number of rivers and canals. Pictures of these streams with their clearly visible function (navigation, recreation, potable water … or sheer beauty) are presented in order hanging on two metal wires.
The pictures serve as inspiration for a adaptation, painting, collage ... or a separate 3D work, presented on the backside of the corresponding photograph.
The model shows the arrangement of the pictures, available for both indoor and outdoor presentation.

Analemmatische zonnewijzer

Analemmatic sundial:
This sundial is a horizontal type, showing the hours from time of earliest sunrise to time of latest sunset. A person standing on the dial and moving on scales of dates his shadow indicates the sun time. The scale of date 80 cm x 162 cm is north-south oriented on the local light meridian 3°7’45”. The hour points are on an ellipse, noon time is on the north side of the date scale, 6h on the west and 18h on the east side.A person stands on the scale on the current date with his back side to the south while his shadow is pointing to the sun time.
The surface of this sundial is within 700 cm x 400 cm, easy to layout and ideal for open public places without disturbing shadow from threes or building.

Ringzonnewijzer met middag-analemma

Ring sundial with noon-analemma:
This sundial has a noon-analemma, 12-hour noon line and date lines caved in stone, put in a fixed position and precisely oriented to the south direction.
The dial is named “The eye of time” and shows the difference between the sun time when the sun crossing the 3°7’45” lightmeridian and the corresponding clock or watch time of 11h47m29s UT.
The inner side of the dial is a horizontal cylinder 64,5cm in diameter and 20cm in height. The outer is elliptical shaped in analogy with the Earth’s orbit around the sun.
The sun shining through a tiny hole in the ring wall cast a beam of light on the inner surface of the ring crosses the analemma to the current date, it is noon by watch time rather than by sundial time.
The analemma has the form of an elongated figure eight showing the sun running ahead or behind our clock time during a whole year.

is based on a photo by Edward S. Curtis, depicting a sweat lodge of Indian Americans. The hut as a sweat lodge proposes a ritual hut to be installed along the light meridian for public and collective use for purification and for story telling. To be constructed out of natural elements. This idea has also been used by Mario Merz by arte povera and his igloo concepts during the 60s.

is a painting, that took 5 years for completion and due to current conflicts and misreadings inside Europe as a squared plane of 27 / 28 squares, representing the current member states. This painting proposes a more mutual understanding of the different mentalities within Europe. This painting shall be transformed as a site specific work along the light meridian, by planting different plants to form rectangles (of Europe) being visible only from above via airplane, via google maps/satellite.

TAKE A HOLD OF 3°7'45"E

Interactive artwork (metal pictogram-like men + concrete plate) that allows the visitor to take a hold of the light meridian line together with the two pictogram-like men. The artwork is designed to be placed directly on the light meridian, with the first “man” representing Blankenberge and the last “man” representing Lagos. Visitors can stand in between them, realizing that together with the artwork they are a part of the light meridian line from its beginning to its end.

L L L is een een levende installatie, opgebouwd uit mensen. Het is een tableau vivant, een levend sculptuur, met als insteek de mens op zoek naar verbinding. De lichtmeridiaan is een denkbeeldige lijn die ook verbinding oproept. Ik zou letterlijk willen werken met LIJNEN, uitgepuurd en eerlijk in een levend beeldhouwwerk, dat menselijk contact als thema naar voor draagt.

Along the center line, I plan to create an alignment of mirrors that can reflect this line of light.The mirrors will be 330 meters high 33 cm wide. They will be double-faced, and glued on a metal structure whose lower part will be driven into the ground. The installation of the mirrors will be done according to the prevailing winds. The Green Ray

The Green Ray is a story by Jules Verne and also a real event. Over the sea and in the right conditions, the first ray of the sun at sunrise becomes intense green. Myths adhere to this phenomenon; it is said signify hope, foretell change or make the viewer impossible to deceive in love.

Evolving texts are spaced along the Light Meridian Line leading to the sea. Together, these mini-haiku build a web of connotations of the green ray. A celebratory beacon of the imagination.

As part of the cop21 in December 2015, I had the opportunity to make a floor painting representing a shoal of fish orbiting a light source.
The idea is to bring a little bit of the sea in the heart of the city through a bright window.
I try with this series of \\\"mise en abime\\\" to restore the beauty of the light propagating through various element constituting the seabed.
This project can be adapted to all types of surfaces (wall / floor).

Putting up a group of White Flags (mast and flag in painted wood) on The Meridian Line (in BE since our history of occupation).
One side of every Flag is inscripted with claiming text in different languages or hereditary symbols.
As a White Flag means ceasefire, request for negotitation or surrender, it here expresses that true communication might still be of minor importance to our need to possess or to be right.
On the other hand the uninscripted side questions that need and is open to hope.

As a basis for this sculpture I chose a classic lamppost, these kind of posts are very recognisable, in this case, however, the pole stands slightly angled and in a place where normally no lamp post are expected. This underlines, on one hand, a kind of dynamism and, on the other hand, a kind of vulnerability: what happened so that the pole isn\'t straight?
The neon is made of yellow, dark green, light green and light blue colors used in a kind of dancing movement around the lamppost.

LIGHT - MERIDIAN - FORM ON A LINE

From a visual point of view, it\'s interesting to make the meridian, a virtual line, noticeable in a subtle way and at the same time to involve the surrounding biotope into the form: landscape, cityscape, interior of a building,...
The texture with its open structure allows an interaction with the environment, while the lineation of the form by stretching it will focus on the meridian. When standing in the middle of the form, on the crossing of the stretched lines above you and these on the ground level indicating your position on the meridian, you are at the same time enclosed from and offered a different point of view on the outer world around the form.
The wind and other natural phenomena will be playing with the shape of the form.

The tissue is handmade by using half knots and by working without seam. As a result the form will be very stretchable and supple. And as result of the stretching the knots will relocate and accentuate the dynamic of the form.
The form will be made of a pure synthetic rope / cord as to be not elastic and strong. It will refer to the light by its color and by its reflection: white, silver-gray, lilac.
The form will be hanging on 2 poles. For this purpose we will use steel cable, cable clamps and turnbuckles.
The lower part of the form will be stretched at right angles and connected to the ground with anchors.
The final decision about measures, material and color will depend on the chosen location, budget and the time span.

Landscape Of Light

100 allers-retours

The performance consists in unraveling a string while walking in the landscape in order to let a shape in dialog with the place’s topography appear. As a result, a 100 lines installation materialising the trace of my passage. The shape will emerge slowly, according to my movements, refering to the very notions of landscape : mental construction, horizon, point of view. As a palimpest, it suggests to re-draw on the existing and to use the terrain as a support to give it a new reading.

The project consists in harvesting light traces in the cities located along the meridian light line. This luminous crop, refering to the cartographic symbol «you are here», will be produced by exposing a paper sheet to the sun, outside and for a specific amount of time. Its aim will be to retrieve a collection of luminous points reflecting the aura of the cities where the traces were issued from, with color nuances and according to each place.

Homo curans (the caring man)

Through the opening at the top of this tent-shaped construction light falls on a lifesize figure striking a Vitruvian Man pose (da Vinci). This figure is a humanist symbol referring to the universal values of human dignity, freedom and tolerance. As the work is meant to pay homage to the multitude of aid workers who support refugees, the roof shape stands for shelter as the elementary form of protection and care. The outside is silver grey; the inner walls ultramarine. The human figure is white.

Biodiversity at 3°7’45”

We want to focus on the importance of biodiversity on the light meridian, the light which plays an important role in biodiversity.
The concept is two-folded.
1. A collection of seeds from locations on the light meridian. Packed in sachets, labeled and suspended from a cable stretched between two trees.
2. Six glass cubes with plants displayed in L-shape on grassland, plus LED solar ground lights in L shape. The six types come from places where the meridian enters and leaves Europe and Africa.

Along the line I would set some wooden posts with barbed wire in a field, that marks a line/border. These wires wear the signs of what it keeps, horses/cattle, hair dancing in the wind, a recognizable image.
I use womens\'hair that stands for beauty, elegance, sometimes hidden because of the power of temptation it has. Female lost of hair is a sign of illness/treatment & a source of sadness. This art piece is homage to all women who fight this battle whose lost hairs are a sign of despair & hope

This site specific installation goes through spaces, countries and time. Inspired by mathematical language; this work moves along natural and urban areas like a white line without ending. With one and unique colour - white - and one material - whitewash - this ephemeral work materialize the time of its traversal through borders and cultures before disappearing . Food occupies an important space in our everyday lives. For some, eating is a pleasure and a past time, while others around the globe struggle for basic subsistence and even die of starvation. Artist Serge Olivier Fokoua seeks to shake people awake by exposing them to the hardships faced by humanity around the globe. What’s for Dinner? that\'s the idea behim the project. It Is a site-specific installation that represent a group of people thinking of how to survive. i plan to buid a site specific preject constitute of 12 wooden columns and cooking pots. the project comments on our unique relation to food and other members of the global community.

Balance at 0º

Installation 'Balance at 0°' is an invitation for a meditation and appreciation of space and sounds. The work will include a projection of landscape photographs and videos, (water, nature... from places along the Meridian line,) in different times of the day, helping the recipient see the space differently. Photograph and/ or videos, will be accompanied by sounds, of nature, and the sound of Singing Crystal Bowl, inviting for meditation and appreciation of familiar space.

Spiral Maze

Spiral Maze is an interactive piece laid out in the form of a Yin-Yang symbol. It’s concept critiques walls, the ones we as humans build and tear down, and rebuild. The idea originated with my growing distaste for the US government’s building of border walls in the four states residing next to Mexico. As one walks its pathways, I hope one might empathize with lives lost worldwide in attempts at crossing borders, yet also experience a sense of freedom when borders between peoples are broken down.

The lay of the land

Two upright structures placed on the line.
Each shows the profile of the landscape extending out from the site to an as yet unspecified distance.
The sculpture is specific to its site, being based on the physicality of the surrounding landscape.
( for this reason the best site would be a site with a varied topology.)
At this stage there is no upper limit to the size of the sculpture, anything above 350 cm can be considered.
Likewise the type of material used is not fixed. wood or metal.

Entre las bahías protegidas de la costa Catalana los pescadores fundaron pueblos y ciudades donde encontraron sus ingresos.
El icono para visualizar un pescador es la aguja para remendar.
La forma de la escultura es muy importante como señal y como referencia “a casa”.
Arquitecturalmente hablando, hay una gran conexión entre la forma de las agujas y “los faros”.
El grupo de 5 estatuas de madera son parcialmente policromada y consiguió un tratamiento de profundidad.

Boetnaalden, sculpturen voor de Sint-Antoniuskerk Blankenberge
De half ingemetselde zuil, is duidelijk het symbool voor de gezamenlijke geschiedenis van wederzijdse steun. De boetnaald, waarmee visnetten hersteld worden, is de sterkst mogelijke icoon om vissers te visualiseren.
De boetnaalden hebben architecturale vormverwijzingen naar de gotische spitsbogen & naar vuurtorens.
De groep van 5 houten beelden zijn gedeeltelijk gepolychromeerd en kregen een dieptebehandeling (ref. hout Singel A’pen)

ML^MARK

this simple form, inspired by a child design is efficient as landmark on the light-meridian-line. robust and secure with a large screw in rural soil.
as a meridian is a longitude which marks on the ground the real noon, the shadow of the construction on real noon lies exactly in the extension of the sculpture itself.
on the floor info about the LML will be painted. dimensions: 250 x 250 cm and 300 cm high // total weight is 300 kilo.

Meridian Thread

Idea of my project is based on looking through a needle hole. By looking through numerous (at least two) needles placed in straight line one can imagine an invisible thread (a meridian) going through.
Sculpture is interactive and encourages viewer to interact.
Needles can be made from acidresistant stainless steel (silver), bronze (gold) or anoded
aluminium (white or grey).
Base and the hole of the needle can be illuminated during the night. One needle is about 2,1m – 2,3m high.

Located in MASS District, (Music Art South of Sunrise) Fort Lauderdale Florida. This active space is a community of artists. Lounges area, classes room, artist studios.
Name: The Great Project FTL. Is a part of a monthly ArtWalk on the last Saturday of the Month. in a burgeoning art Gallery, Music, etc.
I started to lay out the design on what is 4 facades + the side, but out of budget now, like to resume my project as soon as possible.

In front of an indifferent nature, the human drama is happening.



In fact, I did this film against the one I did before which was a travel in car where we see only clouds too, so the shot was moving and it was very narrative (a love story) and there was somme music (Beethoven quartet).

So for this film, it was how to tell a story (with clouds again) without moving the camera and with only one word.

Wolken

Mijn voorstel is tegelijk eenvoudig en complex. Het gaat om een opblaasbare “linnen” wolk die klein in vervoer en groots in “geste” is. De wolk als metafoor voor beweging, transitie, migratie en transmigratie van mensen, ideeen, culturen, gebruiken, religies, etc.
Mijn wolk is overal “inzetbaar” en bestaat uit 2 delen:
1.Ik lever de “format”, nl. een wolk op schragen waarin mensen mbv. een ladder naar boven kunnen in de wolk. De wolk is dubbelwandig. In de buik van de wolk kan men iets beleven.
2.Daar waar de wolk naar toereist wordt er contact gezocht met lokale kunstenaar. Daarbij denk ik zowel aan VJ-kunstenaar en/of musici. De wolk komt pas tot leven en krijgt pas betekenis met lokale “geluiden”.
De wolk slokt al deze geluiden op in zijn innerlijke geheugen en vertrekt weer naar een andere lokatie.
De installatie kan “turnkey” worden aangeleverd incl. een offerte voor plaatsing, transport en beveiliging.
Afmetingen:
Ca. 8 meter lang en 4 meter hoog.
